REVIEW #4: LANEIGE NEW SILK INTENSE LIPSTICK 2017

Hi everyone! :) Today i'll be reviewing on the newly released Laneige New Silk Intense Lipstick which was just released in March 2017! When i saw the advertisement showing that it will have 35 new shades and a newly improved formula from the old silk intense lipstick, i was excited to get it :) And so...on the first day of its release, i went to Tangs at Orchard and tried it yay...and i'm so lucky that i'm the very 1st one to test it out at the shop hahahahaha ^0^

I purchased these 2 lipsticks:

1) Get Healthy Rose #144
2) Privilege #465

and...i received these as well as freebies haha :)

FREEBIES: Laneige Vitamin Brightening Cleansing Water & Laneige x YCH landyard

I fell in love with the packaging at first sight haha because it looks attas and blingy and it is magnetic!! :D

Okay..so now i'll start the review :)

THE CLAIM:

"Silk lipstick that wraps your lips: The soft formula glides onto the lips like silk, giving it a bright yet light coat of delicate colour to complete your makeup look."

1. SILKY
"Soft and light texture similar to silk" - Absolute Weight Down Tech lets the lipstick glide on the lips like silk, leaving a thin yet moist coat of colour.

2. SMOOTH
"Velvet Touch Sphere powder gently wraps the lips, creating a fine, dense chiffon film coat that gives the lips an outstanding finish."

3. VIVID
"Vibrant, defined colours." - Thanks to pigment downsizing technology, the pigments are vivid and delicate, allowing the lipstick to stay on all day long.

4. MOIST
"The ultimate moisturising lipstick." - Contains peptides that retain moisture for long periods; the fine and dense chiffon film shield maintains the moistness of the lips.

APPEARANCE: Hmm...it's not a pigmented lippie...rather it's more to the sheer kind...and although it claims to be a matte finish...i feel that it generally looks more like a half glossy half matte lippie instead which i prefer as it makes your lips look shiny...

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Privilege and Get Healthy Rose

TEXTURE: I feel that the formula really did improve from the previous silk intense lipstick and its also more moisturizing as well. I also bought the serum intense lipstick previously and felt that this new silk intense lipstick is less patchy and glides better and smoother on the lips than the serum intense lippie...it covers the lips well and your lips doesn't feel dry or cracked...when i applied it, i felt my lips looked even and generally looks nice! =) Not as pigmented as serum intense, but for the formula i prefer this as it's not cakey and most importantly the look is even.

Oh ya..i realised that because the lip bullet applicator part is very narrow so it's easy to apply the narrower parts of the lip :)

Let's start with Get A Healthy Rose #144

Whee...look, it looks nice on the lips! hahaha...it covers up well and doesn't look patchy...my lips look moisturised and not chapped or dry also :) This lippie is a true pink lipstick which i like...not too pink like neon pink but more to salmon pink...i'm sure i'll be using this lippie alot next time!! ^0^ yay can't wait to bring this to japan next month and wearing it there yay hahaha XD

Next is Privilege #465

As you can see, Privilege is a more brownish kind of pink...and can be abit reddish if you apply many layers to it..i like this colour alot too! haha i think both colours are suitable for everyday wear =)

I did the tissue test and as i thought..it is transferrable and definitely will need to reapply this lippie again after meals or after drinking water.

THE GOOD:
1) Very moiturising on the lips
2) Your lips does not feel dry and will not be flaky or chapped
3) Many different shades  - 35 shades which they claim you can mix colours to create new ones
4) nice and sleek packaging
5) Glides easily, non-patchy and good coverage

THE BAD:
1) Quite pricey $36
2) Not so long lasting and it's transferrable
3) Need to reapply after meals

VERDICT: I'll give it a 9/10 because i think it's a really good lippie with nice colours...many different varieties..they even have different kinds of pink and red and brown which i like. Great that it's super moisturising and doesn't leave your lips patchy or cracked. Will definitely use it and re-purchase it next time!!! ^0^

REVIEW #3: NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM

Hi everyone, today's review is on the ever popular NYX with its Soft Matte Lip Cream range. I only got to know about this brand and range last year and after trying it out, i started to like matte lippies alot haha...before that i only wore glossy lipsticks.

Nyx has quite a range of lipsticks...but i have not tried the others yet...hence i can't comment how good/bad they are...

I purchased 3 different colour shades in total :

1. Manila #33
2. Zurich #14
3. Cannes #19

Manila was the very first lippie i bought from Nyx and i'll start with it first :)

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: MANILA, ZURICH, CANNES

Now, we'll look at the next colour, Cannes #19 =)

Cannes #19
When i first looked at the colour shades available at the Nyx counter in Sephora, i didn't try out Cannes/Zurich as i thought they were dark brownish colours and went for the lighter coral, pinkish colours instead. However, after watching a few youtube videos on the different colour swatches that bloggers did, i realised Cannes and Zurich are 2 super nice terracotta colours that can be worn everyday. I much prefer Cannes over to Zurich as Zurich is a bit too light for my liking...I like Cannes also because it is the most pigmented and even colour when i apply it to my lips.

I realised that for Nyx, it's better if you wait for about 1 minute after applying for it to dry up so that it is longer lasting.

Cannes #19

Yay...as you can see, the colour turns out brownish pink and it's a soft colour you can definitely wear for any occasion! I like how the colour is even and doesn't appear patchy at all :) I'm gonna finish using Cannes and will definitely buy it again! ^0^

Finally, Zurich!

Zurich is a shade slightly lighter than Cannes and it's also abit more pinkish. I think it's abit too light for me and somehow it makes the flaky and dry parts of my lips stand out even more...haha forgive my terrible looking lips but ya...just to show that it doesn't look so nice...

Zurich #14

THE GOOD:
1) It does live up to its name of being moisturising
2) Feels light on the lips
3) Suitable for dry and flaky lips especially for darker shades as it glides smoothly
4) Cheap! It's only $11 in Sephora
5) Comes in a wide range of colours

THE BAD:
1) Not long lasting as you need to reapply it after meals
2) Transferrable

VERDICT: I would rate it 8/10 because i feel that i like it enough to re-purchase it again and i like how it is moisturising yet creamy matte :)

Stay tuned for my next lippie review! :D

REVIEW #2: COLOURPOP ULTRA SATIN LIPSTICKS + COLOURPOP ULTRA METALLIC LIPSTICKS

Hillo everyone! Now i'll continue to review on the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipsticks :)

I have purchased these 4 colours:
  1. Baracuda
  2. Frick N' Frack
  3. November
  4. Calypso
Let's take a look at Baracuda first...

From Left to Right: November, Calypso, Frick N' Frack and Baracuda

Well, i guess it's difficult to tell what's the difference between Frick N' Frack & Baracuda hahaha...i found it quite hard too...but on closer look, Frick N' Frack is more reddish brown while Baracuda is more purplish brown...As you can see, it's not as matte as the Ultra Matte range..it retains a bit of glossiness and shine :)

Let's try out the different shades on the lips!

Baracuda

So...i didn't quite like this shade as it really looks very greyish purplish brown on my lips and it's too dark for my liking...dunno why the colour in the photo didn't come out as dark...however, i felt that it feels quite moisturizing on the lips and doesn't leave my lips chapped or dry...even after using makeup remover to remove it, my lips still feel fine...and it looks abit glossy too so i definitely prefer this range over ultra matte with regard to its moisture and texture =)

However, as what you can see from the lip tissue test, it's abit transferring...though the colour doesn't really come out from your lips, which is a good thing...

Next will show you Frick N' Frack!

At first i thought when i swatched this colour on my hand i thought it looks super brown and i didn't really like it...but after trying it on my lips..it wasn't too bad! :) i think i can try wearing this out sometimes..but maybe not Baracuda haha....Frick N' Frack comes off as a more nudish brownish with a bit of red colour...

Calypso
Hmm...Calypso is a light nude brown colour but it's a bit too nude for me so i don't really like this too...makes me look paler haha :P For those who like nude colours, you may like this :)

Okay, the last one is November, a limited edition Colourpop lippie which is i feel is a dark shade of peachy pink which to me is a very wearable colour =)

NOVEMBER
I really like this colour alot cuz i think you can wear it to work or anywhere else...the colour is also true to the colour on the packaging..i'm not sure if Colourpop still has this colour on sale since it's a limited edition item...remember to purchase the item while stocks last!

THE GOOD:
1) The ultra satin lippies feel more moisturising on the lips and don't leave your lips chapped
2) Wide range of colours to choose from
3) Highly pigmented colours and it glides consistently on your lips

THE BAD:
1) It doesn't last as long and it's a bit transferrable
2) I don't like the chemical smell of the lippies

VERDICT: I would rate the Ultra Satin lipsticks a 7.5/10 as i like lippies that are both moisturising and have good lasting power that doesn't leave your lips flaky after a while :)

YAY..last but not least, just to also show you 2 metallic lippies i bought :D

  1. Flitter
  2. Kween

Firstly..KWEEN! i really like this colour...and the good is it's lasting with the shine even after the lip tissue test haha...definitely less lasting and more transferrable than the ultra satin range but better than some metallic lippies i have :) I like how Kween is rose pinky colour..a colour you can definitely wear outside easily..it feels moisturising too albeit a bit sticky...Oh! one other good thing about this metallic lippies are that...it doesn't feel like a lip gloss it feels exactly like a lipstick...comparing this to shiny/metallic lip glosses like Laura Mercier or Christian Dior, they totally feel like a lip gloss where it's very easily removable and doesn't last long..however this colourpop one is long lasting =)

For Kween, you can either put it on as a full lipstick, or you can dab it on top of a matte lipstick...either way is fine i guess...

As you can see from the picture above, it leaves a nice sheen to it...other than Solow, Bumble, this is my 3rd favourite from Colourpop =)

Lastly, FLITTER....

Well, i purchased it to see how it looks like, but i'm definitely not wearing this out haha...it's supposed to look golden with a tinge of pink...but to be honest..it's not consistent when you glide it on your lips...you need to put it on several rounds for the full colour to come out...and it makes your lips a bit chappy =(

THE GOOD:
1) Feels like a lipstick, not very transferrable and it's long lasting
2) Kween is moisturising and glides easily on your lips

THE BAD:
1) Flitter leaves your lips dry and flaky
2) Some shades are not easily wearable outside
3) You have to use several rounds of makeup remover to remove the shiny bits even after the colour comes off

VERDICT: 8/10 for KWEEN, but 4.5/10 for FLITTER

REVIEW #1: COLOURPOP ULTRA MATTE LIPSTICKS

So, with this being my first post, I have decided to review my quite newly purchased 10 Colourpop lipsticks! I purchased them directly from their Colourpop website and the great thing is that it ships directly to Singapore. HOWEVER, take note that you need a minimum spending of USD 50 before they allow for international shipping. Also, i waited for a total of about almost 2 weeks before i received my parcel so....if you can't wait, then i suggest you purchase it from Qoo10 or something instead.

I guess since i puchased 10 lippies, they gave me quite a nice packaging box along with it, as well as a greeting message haha :P

LET'S START WITH THE ULTRA MATTE ones first! =)

**This post will just be about the ultra matte ones, if you want to read about the other ultra satin or ultra metallic ones, please click on my other posts. :)

THE CLAIM: "This thin and lightweight formula glides onto the lips leaving SUPER intense colour with a bold, ultra matte finish. It's very long wearing and completely kiss proof!"

So of course that's what every lipstick tends to claim, but not every lipstick is able to pull that off well.

These are the ultra matte lipsticks I have purchased:

  1. Bumble
  2. Solow
  3. Mama
  4. 1st Base
So let's start with Bumble, which was one of the 2 reasons why i wanted to buy Colourpop.

WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE: This is the image of the picture & colour of Bumble in Colourpop.

ACTUAL COLOUR: Now, I've swatched the colour on my arm and this is how it looks like:
The colour which is supposed to be a terracotta pinkish brown appears to be a bit more brownish red. As such, the colour seems to be abit darker than what it claims to be.

TEXTURE: It is super pigmented and is consistent when i glide it over my hand. It dries up quite quickly and does turn into a matte finish, though it's not as fast drying as Kat Von D. I waited for about 1 minute and it has fully dried. It is also not transferring as shown below when i tried doing a lip test onto a tissue paper.

This is how it looks on my lip:

I suggest those who have dry lips like me, to put on your lip balm before putting on this lipstick as it can be quite drying and lips may turn flaky and crusty quite quickly. This lipstick has great lasting power and you don't really need to re-apply after eating or drinking.

Next, Solow!
This is my other reason for purchasing Colourpop. I absolutely love this colour as it's a nice shade of warm mauve pink that can be lovely to wear for everyday wear or for nice occasions. Somehow, Solow felt a bit more moisturizing on the lips than Bumble.

Next is 1st Base
The one on the LEFT is MAMA, and the one on the right is 1ST BASE

Well, I didn't really like 1st Base as i felt that the colour was a bit tooo Barbie pink...i preferred Solow over 1st Base.

Lastly, here's Mama....

I like Mama! hahaha the colour is a dark tinge of orangey brown..and i absolutely like this colour yay :D

Yessss i'm done with the Ultra Matte Lippies....before i move on to the Ultra Satin Lippies, i'll give my opinion of this range of lippies as a whole......

The GOOD
1) Wide range of colours
2) Very non-transferring
3) Applicator is easy to use to apply
4) Long-lasting though not as good as Kat Von D
5) Colours are very pigmented and consistent
6) Can apply full lips in 1 round

The BAD
1) Lips feel very dry and chapped, and it turns flaky very soon
2) Can see lip's fine lines clearly
3) Not moisturising when you apply, and after you use makeup remover to remove, your lips feel even more dry
4) Don't like the chemical smell of the lippie

Verdict: i would give Colourpop a 7/10 but probably won't purchase it anymore after this round cuz of the cons...

Please refer to my next post for COLOURPOP ULTRA SATIN lippie review yayyy!! ^0^
